Crowder served as Palo Alto City Planner from 1972-1982 and was on the Portola Valley Planning Commission from 1974-1982. From 1987 to the present (1997) she has been a member of the San Mateo County Trails Advisory Committee. She was an elected member of the Board of Directors for the Mid-Peninsula Open Space District from 1989 to 2000, the date of her accidental death.
